Buildertrend alternatives for remodelers who don't build houses.

Buildertrend is built for custom builders and established remodelers running multi-month projects with the homeowner watching every step. If you took the demo and it felt like a lot for bathrooms, decks and repairs, here's what fits a smaller shop.

Who Buildertrend is for, and how you buy it

Buildertrend serves established custom and semi-custom home builders, remodelers and specialty contractors such as kitchen and bath and outdoor living. It covers project scheduling, estimating, budgets, change orders, job costing, selections, construction proposals and a client portal where homeowners see schedules, budgets, selections and daily progress. There are iOS and Android apps.

Buildertrend publishes no prices. Its pricing page says plans are personalized by builder type, annual revenue and needs, and that every plan includes the full feature set. There's no self-serve trial; you get a personalized demo instead. So you can't run it on a real job before you're talking to sales.

For a builder whose clients expect a portal and a selections sheet, that's the product doing its job. For a two-person crew doing a vanity swap Monday and a deck rebuild Thursday, most of it goes unused. Two-way comparison: Redline vs Buildertrend.

Questions contractors ask

How much does Buildertrend cost?

Buildertrend doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page says plans are personalized by builder type, annual revenue and needs. Ask for the full annual number, including any onboarding, during the demo.

Can my clients follow the project in Redline?

No. There's no client portal. Customers get a pay link for each invoice (Solo), and you email updates from your own Gmail. If your clients expect to log in and track selections, Buildertrend does that and Redline doesn't.

Is Redline enough for a small remodeler?

For short projects, it can be. Quote with a deposit % (good, better and best options on Solo), book site visits, move jobs from Quoted to Accepted to In Progress, bill the deposit and the balance on Solo, and see profit per job after materials. For multi-month builds with budgets and selections, look at Buildertrend or Contractor Foreman.
