Redline
Free plan

Free contractor software, and exactly where free stops.

Redline's Free plan has no end date and needs no card. It runs your leads, jobs and calendar by chat for one person. It doesn't send invoices. Here's the whole line, drawn plainly, so you know what you're signing up for.

Who Free is for

You do the work, and right now the business lives in your phone: a notes app full of addresses, a camera roll of jobs, voicemails you mean to call back. Maybe it's a side business on weekends, maybe it's the first season on your own. Either way, a monthly software bill is hard to justify when you're doing a few jobs a week.

That's who Free is built for. You get the part of the office that keeps work from slipping through: every lead in one list, every estimate on the calendar, every job in a stage you can see. You pay nothing until you want customers paying you through Redline.

What Free looks like on a Tuesday

Add Tom Reyes, 978-555-0133, Dracut. Three fence sections blew down on the back line, wants a repair quote.
Redline

Here's Tom Reyes in Dracut as a lead, with a fence repair job in Lead. Confirm and I'll save both.

Confirm. Find me a time to look at it this week.
Redline

Saved. Thursday at 11:30 works: you're already in Dracut at 10 for the Pham estimate. Friday at 9 is open too.

Book Thursday 11:30?

All of this is on Free. New contacts and jobs wait for your OK; calendar bookings go straight on.

Free includes the AI chat, contacts, the job pipeline, the calendar with the scheduling assistant and repeating visits, quotes by chat, Quick-Sort, reminders, email from your own Gmail and a Pro Page with 3 revealed quote requests a month, for one person, with 4,000 AI credits for the life of the account. Invoices, card pay links, deposits, overdue alerts, expenses and reports start on Solo at $29 a month.

The credit cap, explained before you hit it

The chat runs on AI credits. Free comes with 4,000 for the life of the account. It's a hard cap: it doesn't refill each month, and you can't buy more. When it runs out, the chat stops until you move to a paid plan, which refills every billing cycle.

Two things stretch it. The calendar's own suggested times and Optimize button don't use credits; only the chat does. And there are bonus credits that never expire: when a friend signs up through your referral link, you each get 2,000 (for up to 15 friends), and a community question with a bounty pays credits to whoever answers it.

Straight answers about Free

Free does

  • Keep your leads, customers and jobs in one place, with no end date
  • Find open times for estimates and group them by town
  • Build itemized quotes by chat, even from a site photo
  • Send email from your own Gmail address when you approve it
  • Give you a public Pro Page with a quote request form

Free doesn't

  • Send invoices or take card payments (that's Solo)
  • Track expenses or run reports
  • Refill AI credits, or let you buy more
  • Add a teammate or a tech (one person only)
  • Show your company logo (that starts on Solo)

When free stops being enough

The usual reason to move up: you want the customer to pay from a link instead of waiting on a check. That's Solo, at $29 a month. It adds invoices from finished jobs, card pay links on your own Stripe account, deposits, overdue alerts at day 3, 7 and 14, expenses and profit per job. It has a 7-day free trial when you start on the web (14 days if you pick yearly).

The other reason is credits. If you use the chat for everything, 4,000 goes faster than you'd think, and Solo's monthly allowance is the fix. Nothing you added on Free goes anywhere when you upgrade. See the full breakdown on pricing.

Questions contractors ask

Is Redline really free, or is it a trial?

It's a plan, not a trial. Free has no end date and needs no card. The limits are the ones on this page: one person, a lifetime allowance of 4,000 AI credits, and no invoicing.

Is there a free invoicing app for contractors?

Not on Redline: invoicing starts on Solo at $29 a month. If free invoicing is the main thing you need, Square Invoices, Wave and Yardbook each list a free plan that includes invoices on their own pricing pages, paid for through card processing fees or, in Yardbook's case, ads. If you want leads, scheduling and quotes run by chat now and invoicing later, start on Redline Free and add Solo when the first invoice goes out.

What happens to my data if I upgrade, or leave?

Upgrading keeps everything where it is. If you leave, Settings has a one-click export of your contacts, jobs, activity and calendar as a JSON file.

Can my helper use my Free account?

Free is one seat, so no. Adding people starts on Team at $129 a month, which includes 3 seats with you counted as one. See software for small crews.

Does Free work on my iPhone?

Yes. Free works in the iPhone app and in any browser. The morning push with your top priority, and reminders, need the iPhone app.
