Redline
Quotes and estimates

Build the quote from a photo.

Describe the job or send a picture of it, and Redline drafts an itemized quote, with a deposit if you take one. You check it and save it. On Solo and up, the quote composer adds a tax rate and good, better and best options. One thing up front: Redline doesn't give customers a link to view or accept a quote yet. You present it yourself, in person or by email from your own Gmail.

A reroof quote from the driveway

[photo of the roof] Quote a full tear-off for the Brennans. About 28 squares, one layer, architectural shingles, ice and water at the eaves, ridge vent. 30% deposit.
Redline

Draft for Tom Brennan, roof replacement:

Tear-off and haul away, 28 sq at $95: $2,660

Architectural shingles installed, 28 sq at $390: $10,920

Ice and water shield at the eaves: $1,150

Ridge vent: $720

Total $15,450, with a 30% deposit of $4,635. Approve & save?

Saved it. Now draft an email to Tom walking him through the quote.
Redline

The email to Tom is ready to review. Tap Approve & send and it goes from your Gmail.

Chat drafts the lines and the deposit. Tax and good, better, best options go on in the quote composer (Solo and up). Emails go out only through your connected Gmail, after you approve them.

From site visit to a yes

  1. Describe it or snap it

Type the scope, or attach up to 6 photos of the job. Redline reads them and drafts the lines.

  2. Check the numbers

Each line is quantity times unit price, with the total and deposit on the draft. Ask the chat to change a line before you save. In the quote composer on Solo and up, you also set a tax rate and good, better and best options.

  3. Save it

Approve the draft and it's saved as a quote for that customer. Move the job to Quoted in your pipeline so you can see it age.

  4. Present it yourself

Walk the customer through it on site, or have Redline draft an email that lays out the options and send it from your own Gmail.

  5. When they say yes

Move the job to Accepted. On Solo and up, invoice the deposit before you order materials, then invoice the balance when the job's done. You set each amount. See invoicing.

What goes into a Redline quote

Good, better, best

In the quote composer (Solo and up), show a repair next to a replacement, or three tiers of material, in one quote, so the customer can compare them side by side.

Tax and deposit

Chat drafts can carry a deposit percentage. The composer adds a tax percentage too, so the customer sees the real total and what's due up front.

Read from a photo

A shot of a data plate, a rotted sill or a cracked driveway gives Redline something to work from.

Material prices on request

Ask the chat to look up a current material price on the web before it fills in the line. Searching uses credits.

Your rates, remembered

Mention your price per square or your trip charge once and Redline uses it next time. See memory.

Quotes that go quiet

Ask "any quotes still out?" and Redline lists your quotes with totals. Keep the job in Quoted and its card turns amber at 7 days and red at 14, so nothing goes quiet unnoticed. See Redline RPMs.

What works today, and what doesn't yet

Redline does

  • Build itemized quotes by chat or from photos
  • Good, better and best options in one quote (composer, Solo and up)
  • A deposit percentage with live totals, and tax in the composer
  • Save quotes and list the ones still open
  • Draft an email about the quote, sent from your Gmail

Redline doesn't, today

  • Give customers a link to view or accept the quote online
  • Collect an e-signature
  • Create the deposit invoice automatically when they say yes
  • Text the quote to anyone
  • Keep a price book or parts catalog

Questions contractors ask

Can my customer accept the quote online?

Not today. There's no send-quote link or online acceptance in the app right now. You present the quote in person or by email, and when the customer says yes, you move the job to Accepted.

Which plan do I need for quotes?

Building quotes by chat works on every plan, Free included. The quote composer in Money (with tax and good, better, best options), and invoicing the deposit once they say yes, need Solo at $29 a month. See pricing.

Is this the same as an estimate?

Yes. Call it a quote, an estimate or a bid; it's the same itemized document.

Can I start from a blank form instead?

On Solo and up, open the quote composer from Money (Invoices, then Deposits, then "Add to a quote") and build the lines by hand. Or grab a free printable estimate template.
