Redline
Invoicing and payments

Invoice from the job. Get paid by card.

Finish the job, say "invoice Sullivan for the roof", and Redline drafts it from the job you already have. Approve it and you get a pay link to send your customer, who pays by card.

One message, one invoice

Invoice Sullivan for the roof job.
Redline

Here's the draft for Dan Sullivan: $14,580 for the tear-off and reroof, from the job, plus your 6.25% sales tax. Due in 14 days.

Approve it and the pay link goes live. Want me to draft an email to Dan? You paste the link in from the invoice in Money.

Every invoice is a draft you check before anything goes to the customer.

From finished job to money in the bank

  1. The job lands in Ready to bill

Finished jobs show up in Money under Ready to bill. One tap turns a job into an invoice, or send them all at once.

  2. You approve, the pay link goes live

Each invoice gets its own branded pay link with your logo. Copy it from the invoice in Money and paste it into your own message, or into an email Redline drafts and sends from your Gmail when you approve it.

  3. Your customer pays by card

The payment runs on your own Stripe account. The page they paid on becomes their receipt, and the iPhone app tells you the moment the money comes in.

What's in the box

Card pay links

Every sent invoice has a pay link customers open on any phone. Card payments only, in US dollars.

No Redline fee on payments

Payments go to your own Stripe account. Stripe charges its normal processing fee and Redline adds nothing on top.

Sales tax set once

Set your workspace sales tax and it applies to every invoice.

Deposits

Invoice the deposit before you order materials, then invoice the balance when the job's done. You set each amount; Redline doesn't subtract the deposit for you.

Overdue alerts

With chasing on, unpaid invoices get flagged at day 3, 7 and 14 and Redline tells you who to call. See overdue invoice alerts.

Voids and refunds

Void an unpaid invoice, or refund a paid one in full or in part, right from Money.

Straight answers before you switch

Redline does

  • Draft invoices from a chat message or a finished job
  • Branded card pay links on your own Stripe account
  • Draft the email for the pay link, sent from your own Gmail
  • Flag overdue invoices and tell you who to call
  • Export a QuickBooks-format CSV from Reports

Redline doesn't

  • Text invoices to customers (calling is one tap instead)
  • Take bank transfers on the pay page yet, it's card only
  • Sync with QuickBooks or Xero, it exports a file
  • Send reminders to your customer on its own

Questions contractors ask

Which plan includes invoicing?

Invoicing starts on Solo at $29 a month, with a 7-day free trial when you start on the web. Free covers the chat, contacts, pipeline and calendar. See pricing.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. Set it up from Money, under Payouts. It's your own Stripe account, so payouts land in your bank on Stripe's schedule and you can see everything in your Stripe dashboard.

Can my customer pay without an app?

Yes. The pay link opens in any phone or computer browser. Nothing to download.

Can I invoice by the hour?

Yes. Tell Redline the hours, the rate and any parts, and it drafts one invoice for the total with a one-line description, like "6 hrs labor at $95 plus parts". A chat invoice is one amount, not itemized lines. The hourly rate calculator helps you pick the rate.
