Redline
One truck, one person

You're the whole company. Redline is the office.

When one person does the selling, the work, the billing and the chasing, the office work happens at 9pm or not at all. Redline's Solo plan is software for solo contractors that does the office manager's part from the cab, for $29 a month.

The week of a one-truck business

Monday you're at an estimate by 7:30 and on a job by 9. Three people call while you're working. You hear the voicemails at lunch and mean to call back after. Wednesday you finish two jobs and tell yourself you'll write the invoices tonight. Thursday a customer asks when you're coming and you check the paper calendar in the truck. Friday you realize the bathroom job from three weeks ago still hasn't paid, and you're not sure whether you ever sent the bill.

None of that is a skill problem. It's that nobody is sitting at a desk. Redline can't do the work, but it can do the desk part in the gaps between jobs: one message to file a call, two taps to invoice a finished job, and a push that tells you who to call about money.

Ten minutes in the truck at the end of the day

Done at the Brennans. Swapped the bath fan and added a GFCI by the kitchen sink. Invoice them $550 for both.
Redline

Draft for Mike Brennan: $550 for the bath fan replacement and a GFCI outlet by the kitchen sink, due in 14 days.

Approve it and the pay link goes live.

Approved. Who else owes me?
Redline

Two more open: Lisa Ford, $1,200 for the deck stain, sent 8 days ago and flagged overdue. Sam Haddad, $640 for the gutter cleaning, sent 2 days ago.

Want me to draft a friendly reminder to Lisa?

Invoicing and overdue flags are on Solo. Copy the pay link from the invoice in Money to email it or hand it over. Reminders to customers are emails you approve, never sent on their own.

What Solo gives a one-person business

A morning push with one priority

On every plan, the iPhone app sends one push a day with the thing to do first: a callback, an overdue invoice, an empty afternoon. See morning brief.

Invoices from the job, in two taps

Finished jobs wait in Ready to bill. One tap makes the invoice, or say "invoice the Brennans". See invoicing.

Card pay links

Each invoice has a pay link with your logo. Customers pay by card on your own Stripe account, and Redline adds no fee on top of Stripe's.

Who to call, at day 3, 7 and 14

Unpaid invoices get flagged and the app pushes you a name. You decide whether to call or email. See overdue invoice alerts.

Expenses filed against the job

Type the vendor and amount, add a photo of the receipt if you want, and file it to the job: materials, fuel, equipment or other.

Profit per job

Reports show each job's profit after materials, plus what you collected, spent and booked but haven't banked. See expenses and reports.

Why the chasing alerts come to you, not the customer

When you work alone, the customer who owes you is usually someone you'll see again: a neighbor, a referral, a repeat. An automatic "your invoice is overdue" email can land wrong. So Redline tells you who's late and lets you choose: a call from the truck, or an email it drafts and you approve.

It does mean nothing chases on autopilot. If you never open the app, nobody gets reminded. The day 3, 7 and 14 pushes are there so you don't have to remember.

Honest limits for a one-person shop

Solo does

  • Draft invoices from a message or a finished job
  • Take card payments on a pay link
  • Take deposits before you buy materials
  • Push you who owes money and when
  • Show profit per job after materials

Solo doesn't

  • Answer the phone while you're on a roof
  • Text invoices or pay links (copy the link or email it)
  • Remind customers on its own
  • Track mileage or your hours
  • Read receipts for you; amounts are typed
  • Do your bookkeeping (it exports a CSV for whoever does)

Questions contractors ask

Is Free enough for a solo contractor?

Free covers leads, the pipeline, the calendar and quotes for one person. The day you want a customer to pay you by card from a link, you need Solo. Solo has a 7-day free trial on the web, 14 days if you pick yearly.

What does Solo cost billed yearly?

Yearly billing is 20% off, which shows as $23 a month. See pricing.

When would I need Team?

When you hire. Solo is one seat. Team is $129 a month with 3 seats, you included, and adds the dispatch board and a tech app. See software for small crews.

Can I invoice by the hour?

Yes. Tell the chat the hours, your rate and any parts, and it drafts the invoice for the total with a one-line description. Labor hours aren't tracked as time, though, so profit per job counts materials, not your hours.
