Garage door software for the day a spring lets go.
Nobody plans a broken spring. The car is stuck inside, the customer is late for work and your morning was already full. Redline finds where the call fits, puts a tech on it and has the invoice ready when the door goes back up.
A broken spring on a full morning
Yes, Dev has the Kowalski opener install in Natick at 10:00. Ready to add Sam Haddad and the spring job (confirm below), then I'll book it at 11:30 and put Dev on it.
Invoice drafted for Sam Haddad: $515, "Service call, pair of torsion springs, set of 4 nylon rollers" ($95, $340 and $80 from your prices).
Approve it and the pay link goes live. Copy it from the invoice in Money, or paste it into an email I draft for your Gmail.
Assigning jobs is on Team and up. Invoices and pay links are on Solo and up.
Service calls and door sales, side by side
Emergency calls, slotted fast
Ask for a time and Redline offers the best open slots, grouping calls in the same town so a same-day spring job lands next to work you already have there. See scheduling.
A board for service and install techs
On Team and up, drag a job from one tech to another and their phone updates. Techs tap Idle, En route or On job, so you can see who's free without calling around. See crew dispatch.
Paid before the truck leaves
Tell Redline the parts and the labor and it drafts one invoice for the total. Approve it and the customer pays by card on the pay link (Solo and up). Techs never see prices, so the owner or office approves the invoice and sends the link. See invoicing.
New door quotes with options
Quote a non-insulated, insulated and carriage-style door as good, better and best in the quote composer (Solo and up), with a deposit to order the door. The pipeline flags the quotes that have gone quiet.
Commercial doors on a schedule
Book dock door and overhead door tune-ups as a repeating series for a property, every 6 months or whatever the contract says. See recurring jobs.
Two businesses under one roof
Garage door companies run two kinds of work at once. Service is reactive: springs, cables, openers, off-track doors, mostly one tech per truck, paid on completion. New doors are sales: a measure, a quote with a few models and colors, a wait while the customer decides, a deposit, then a 2-person install when the door comes in.
The first cold snap breaks springs all over town, and every one of those customers wants you today. That's when a schedule kept in your head falls apart. In Redline every call becomes a contact with a job, the calendar shows where each tech is booked, and moving a job is one message instead of three phone calls.
The door sales are slower and easier to lose. A customer who asked for a quote on an insulated door in October might be ready in March. The quote is still in the job pipeline with the model and price on it, and a reminder in your morning push on the iPhone app makes sure someone calls.
Straight answers for garage door companies
Redline does
- Fit same-day calls into the schedule by town
- Dispatch techs and show their status (Team and up)
- Invoice springs, rollers, cables and labor by chat (Solo and up)
- Quote new doors with a deposit (options in the quote composer, Solo and up)
- Remember your spring, opener and service call prices
Redline doesn't
- Keep a price book or track springs and openers on the truck
- Show where your trucks are (status is tapped, no GPS)
- Show prices or invoices in the tech app
- Text an on-my-way message to the customer
Questions contractors ask
Can my tech take payment on site?
The tech app never shows money, by design. The owner or office approves the invoice from their phone and copies or emails the pay link, and the customer pays by card on their own phone. If you're the tech and the owner, you do it all from your phone.
Where do I keep spring sizes and opener models for a customer?
In the job notes and photos. Snap the spring tag or the opener label and it stays on that customer's file, so the next call at that house starts with the right parts.
Does Redline have a price book for doors and parts?
No. It remembers prices you tell it, like your service call fee or a pair of springs, and uses them in quotes and invoices. There's no catalog or inventory.
Does the tech app work on Android?
Redline runs in any phone browser, so a tech with an Android phone can use it there. The native app is iPhone only for now, and push notifications need it.
