Redline
Roofing estimates

Roofing estimates, from the driveway.

You've already measured the roof. Redline turns the squares, the tear-off layers and the edge footage into an itemized quote for each shingle option, with a deposit, before you're back in the truck.

How a roof quote runs in Redline

  1. Measure like you always do

Get the squares, the pitch, how many layers are on it, and the footage for eaves, rakes and ridge. Snap a few photos of the problem areas while you're up there.

  2. Send the numbers, or the photos

Type or dictate the measurements into the chat, or attach up to 6 photos to one message. Redline reads both and asks about anything it can't tell, like whether you want ice and water shield in the valleys.

  3. Check the lines

Squares become shingle, underlayment and tear-off lines. Edge metal and ridge go by the linear foot. A decking allowance goes in per sheet. Ask for a draft per shingle line if you want the homeowner to choose between good, better and best.

  4. Save it and send it from your Gmail

Approve the quote and it's saved on the customer's file next to the job; move the job to Quoted. Redline can draft an email laying out the options, sent from your own Gmail once you approve it.

  5. They say yes, you bill the deposit

When the homeowner calls back or replies, move the job to Accepted and invoice the deposit so you can order material. Invoices are on Solo and up.

Saved to the Lopez file. The email's ready for you to read over. It goes from your Gmail when you hit send.

Quotes by chat work on every plan. Example prices only.

What goes on a roofing quote

Roofs are priced in a few different units, and mixing them up is where quotes go wrong. Redline keeps each line in the unit you measured it in.

LineUnitWhy it's its own line
Tear-offper squareThe price changes with every extra layer, so note the layers
Shingles, installedper squareUsually where the good, better and best options differ
Underlaymentper squareSynthetic or felt, priced with the field of the roof
Ice and water shieldper square or rollEaves, valleys and around penetrations
Drip edge, starter, ridgeper linear ftMeasured along the edges, not the field
Pipe boots and flashingeachCounted, not measured
Decking allowanceper sheetRotten plywood found at tear-off, billed as found
Dumpster, permit, cleanupper jobOne line so the homeowner sees it up front

Prices are yours. Redline remembers your per-square rates once you mention them, so the next quote starts from your numbers.

Where roof quotes lose time

Measuring isn't the slow part. The slow part is the kitchen table that night, turning 24 squares and 165 feet of edge into a document, then remembering to send it. By then the homeowner has two other bids. Building the quote while you're still parked out front closes that gap.

The decking line is the one that saves arguments later. Put the per-sheet price on the quote and the final invoice can add sheets as found without a phone call that starts with "you never said".

What it does and doesn't do for roof quotes

Redline does

  • Build itemized roof quotes by chat or from roof photos
  • Good, better and best options, each with its own total
  • A deposit percentage on the quote
  • Draft the email to the homeowner, sent from your Gmail
  • Invoice the deposit once they say yes (Solo and up)

Redline doesn't

  • Measure roofs from aerial or satellite images
  • Write insurance supplements or export to Xactimate
  • Order shingles or schedule supplier deliveries
  • Give the homeowner a link to accept or e-sign the quote
  • Send quotes by text

Questions contractors ask

Does it add my waste factor?

Tell it your waste percentage and it applies it to the field squares, or give it squares with waste already in. Either way the draft shows the squares it used, so you can catch a wrong number before you save.

Can I quote a repair the same way?

Yes. A pipe boot, a section of step flashing, a few squares after a wind event: each is a flat line or a small square count. Tell Redline your repair minimum once and it keeps it.

What about flat and low-slope roofs?

Same flow, different lines: TPO or EPDM by the square, insulation board, edge metal and terminations by the foot, and each penetration counted. Redline doesn't read or write insurance adjuster scopes.

Will Redline chase an unpaid deposit?

Yes, if you bill it by chat ("invoice Maria Lopez $4,044, 30% deposit"). That's a regular invoice, so the overdue alerts at day 3, 7 and 14 cover it. Check it's paid in Money before you order material.
