148 feet, 8 miters, 5 inch or 6?

A seamless install quote has more parts than it looks: footage by size and profile, downspouts by the foot, miters, end caps, hangers, the old gutters coming off and the fascia you'll find behind them. Redline lays it out from your measurements, with the size choice and the guards as options.

From the walk-around to a booked machine day

  1. Measure the runs

Footage per side, the number of inside and outside miters, downspout count and length, stories, and what's coming off.

  2. Send the numbers and photos

Photos of the fascia and the old gutters help when you're explaining a rot allowance. Up to 6 per message; file the ones you want to keep to the job.

  3. Size and profile as options

5 inch K-style next to 6 inch K-style, or half-round for the older house. Guards as the third option. Three drafts, three totals.

  4. Write the fascia allowance

You won't know until the old gutters are off. Put an allowance line for fascia repair by the foot so the change isn't a surprise.

  5. Deposit, then the coil

Put a deposit percentage on the quote and invoice the deposit when they choose. Then order coil in their color and book the machine day. Invoicing it takes Solo.

What goes on a gutter install quote

  • Gutter by the linear foot, with size, profile and color
  • Downspouts by the foot, with size
  • Miters, end caps and outlets by count
  • Hidden hangers if you list them, or a note that they're included
  • Tear-off and haul-away of the old system
  • Guards by the foot, as an option
  • Fascia repair allowance, billed only if used
  • Stories or steep pitch surcharge, if you charge one

The rotted fascia conversation

Plenty of the old gutters you pull have soft fascia behind them, and the homeowner has no idea. If the quote never mentioned it, the change order sounds like a shakedown. If the quote had a line that said "fascia repair if needed, $28 a foot", it's just the line being used.

When it happens, snap the rot and bill it in the final invoice, with the footage named in the line. Redline keeps the photo with the job, so the homeowner who was at work all day can see what you found.

Straight answers on gutter quotes

Redline does

  • Quote runs, downspouts and miters from your measurements
  • Draft sizes, profiles and guards as side-by-side options
  • Add a fascia allowance line before you find the rot
  • Keep photos of the old system on the job

Redline doesn't

  • Measure runs from satellite or drone images

  • Draw a diagram of the runs
  • Let the customer accept the quote online
  • Text the quote (email it from your Gmail)

Questions contractors ask

Can I quote a cleaning and a guard install together?

Yes. Draft one quote for the cleaning and one for the cleaning plus guards, or quote guards right after you invoice the cleaning.

Will Redline remember my per-foot prices?

Yes. Say them once ("6 inch is $14 a foot, guards are $9") and they're used on every quote after that. Change them any time in Settings, Memory.

Can I quote cleanings by the house instead of by the foot?

Yes. Give Redline your flat prices by stories and size once ("2-story colonial, $225") and it uses them for cleanings. Installs usually stay by the foot.
