Redline
Siding estimates

Twenty-four squares, three products.

You walked the house with a tape and came back with wall squares, a window count and the soffit run. Redline turns that into the same house priced in standard vinyl, insulated vinyl and fiber cement, so the homeowner picks the product, not the contractor.

From the walk-around to a saved quote

  1. Measure the walls and gables

Wall area in squares (100 sq ft each), gables included, with or without the openings taken out, your call. Count windows and doors, then run the soffit, fascia and corners.

  2. Send the numbers in one message

"24 squares, 14 windows and 2 doors to wrap, 180 ft soffit and fascia, tear off one layer." If you'd rather give wall dimensions, Redline can do the area math; check it before it goes on the quote.

  3. Price the products side by side

Good, better and best, one draft each. The tear-off, wrap, trim and dumpster lines stay the same; only the siding line changes. Each option has its own total.

  4. Add the deposit

The deposit percentage you need to order the product goes on each option, so it's there whichever one they pick.

  5. Present it and follow up

Go over it at the kitchen table or have Redline draft the email from your Gmail. Move the job to Quoted, and the pipeline shows it aging until they decide.

What happens behind the old siding

Siding estimates go wrong in two places. The first is the measure, and Redline doesn't help there: you still walk the house. The second is the wall under the old siding. Soft sheathing at the sills and behind the gutters shows up on a lot of older houses, and nobody can price it until the wall is open.

The fair way to handle it is to agree on the price before anyone's surprised. Put your per-sheet price in the email that goes with the quote, as above. When the tear-off finds rot, tell Redline how many sheets when you invoice the balance. It adds them into the amount at the price the homeowner already saw and names them in the description.

If the job is an insurance claim, the quote in Redline is your number for the work. The adjuster's estimate, any supplement and the claim paperwork stay in whatever you use for claims now.

Straight answers on siding estimates

Redline does

  • Price one house in three products, each with its own total
  • Lines by the square, linear foot and opening
  • Remember your per-square and per-foot prices
  • A deposit percentage on any quote
  • Draft the email from your own Gmail

Redline doesn't

  • Take measurements from aerial or satellite reports
  • Build a material order (boxes, pieces of J-channel)
  • Show the homeowner a color mockup
  • Let the homeowner accept the quote online
  • Handle insurance supplements or claim paperwork

Questions contractors ask

Can I quote just one side of the house?

Yes. Storm repairs on one elevation are the same lines with smaller numbers. Put the matching problem in the email if the old product is discontinued, so the homeowner knows why you might be quoting a full wall.

How does the deposit get paid?

When she picks an option, move the job to Accepted and invoice the deposit by chat on Solo and up. She pays by card on the pay link. Redline doesn't create that invoice on its own when the homeowner says yes.

Can my sales rep build quotes too?

Yes, on Team ($129 a month, 3 seats) and up. The workspace shares the same contacts, pipeline and chat, so a quote your rep builds is on the customer's file for you too. Installers in the tech app never see quotes or prices.
