Get paid while the driveway is still drying.
The best moment to get paid is when the homeowner is standing on a driveway that looks new. Tell Redline what you washed and what they added after seeing the first section, and the card pay link is on their phone before you've coiled the hose.
From last rinse to paid
Say what changed from the quote
"House and driveway as quoted. They added the back fence and the oil stain by the garage." Check the total covers the quoted work and the extras.
Your minimum and rates apply
Per-foot prices, the oil stain treatment and your minimum charge come from memory once you've said them.
Approve, hand them the link
The pay link goes live on approval. Copy it from the invoice and show them, or paste it into an email Redline drafts, sent from your Gmail. They pay by card on their own phone.
Commercial accounts on terms
Gas stations, dumpster pads and storefronts get invoiced per visit with the location and date, due in 14 days by default.
Know who hasn't paid
With chasing on, unpaid invoices are flagged at day 3, 7 and 14 and the iPhone app tells you who to call.
They added the fence
Draft for Greg Novak: $745, "House soft wash, driveway, back fence and oil stain treatment."
That's house $394, driveway 1,200 sq ft at $0.18 $216, fence 60 linear ft at $1.50 $90, oil stain $45. Approve?
Pay link's live. Copy it from the invoice. You'll get a push when he pays.
Invoices and pay links are on Solo ($29 a month) and up. The payment push needs the iPhone app. Example prices only.
What goes on a wash invoice
- Each surface with its measure: house by story or square foot, flatwork by the square foot, fence by the linear foot
- Add-ons agreed on site, named so the total makes sense
- Stain treatments: oil, rust, gum, each named and priced
- Minimum charge, when a small job falls under it
- Location and visit date for commercial accounts
- PO number when a property manager or store gives you one
The add-on is where the day's profit is
Half the upsells in this trade happen after the first section is clean. The homeowner sees the stripe of new concrete next to the old and asks what the patio would cost. If that add-on lives in your head until the invoice is written that night, it's the line that gets dropped or underpriced.
Saying it into the chat while you're standing there puts it on the invoice at your price. Commercial work runs the other way: nobody is standing on the driveway, the money comes on the store's schedule, and the overdue alerts are what keep it from sitting.
Straight answers on wash invoices
Redline does
- Put the quoted work and the on-site extras on one invoice
- Remember your per-foot rates and minimum
- Card pay links on your own Stripe account, no Redline fee
- Invoice commercial visits with location and date
- Refund part of a payment if a spot needs a redo credit
Redline doesn't
- Work with a card reader or tap to pay
- Take bank transfers or wallets, it's card only
- Bill commercial accounts on a schedule by itself
- Text the pay link (copy it or email it)
- Send receipts by email from Redline
Questions contractors ask
Do I need a card reader?
No. The customer opens the pay link on their own phone and pays by card. The page they paid on becomes their receipt.
Can I bill a storefront monthly instead of per visit?
Yes. Ask Redline to invoice the month as one amount with the visit dates in the description, and approve it. It won't send the monthly invoice on its own.
A customer says a section is streaky. Can I give a credit?
Fix it if you can. If you'd rather credit them, refund part of the payment from Money with a reason. Refunds land back on their card.
