Redline
GC crew dispatch

The inspection slipped. Where does Rick go?

A small GC has three or four jobs open and a crew of carpenters and laborers who go wherever the work is ready. When the framing inspection moves to Thursday, Redline sends the crew to the kitchen demo that's waiting, keeps the punch list going, and updates every phone in one message.

Moving your crew between projects

  1. Your crew on the app, subs off it

Each person in the app uses a seat. Put your own carpenters, lead laborer and site super on it. Subs stay off the board and get a call.

  2. Each project day is a job on the board

Book the crew to the project for the day with notes: what's being built, what's being delivered, what has to be ready for the next trade.

  3. When something slips, swap

Inspection moved, windows late, the plumber didn't show. Tell Redline where the crew goes instead and what slides.

  4. Keep a punch-list person going

One carpenter on the finishing project working the punch list from the job notes on their phone, while the rest of the crew pushes the big job.

  5. Receipts against the right job

Lumber, fasteners and the dumpster swap snapped in the tech app and filed against the project, so Reports shows what each one cost.

Wednesday, 4pm

Framing inspection at Castellano got pushed to Thursday. Move Rick and Jose to the Parker kitchen demo tomorrow. Ana stays on the Lee punch list.
Redline

Tomorrow: Rick and Jose on Parker kitchen demo at 7:00. Ana stays on the Lee punch list. Castellano framing inspection is on the calendar Thursday at 10:00.

The Parker job notes say the dumpster arrives Friday. Want a reminder to call about moving it up?

Yes, first thing tomorrow.
Redline

Reminder set for tomorrow: call about the Parker dumpster. Rick, Jose and Ana's phones are updated.

The crew board, tech app and assigning by chat are on Team ($129 a month) and Team+.

What the board does for a small GC

Who's on which project

One row per crew member, the day's project on each, and an Unassigned row. Drag a person to another project and their phone updates.

Two in a truck

Group a carpenter and a laborer for the day so the board shows one crew on the demo, not two people.

Site notes

Lockbox code, where to park, which bathroom the crew can use, "homeowner works from home, keep the noise down until 9".

No contract prices

Crew members see projects, checklists and notes. Contract values, draws and invoices stay with you and the office.

What this is, and what it isn't

A construction schedule with sub sequencing, dependencies and a Gantt chart is a different tool. Redline doesn't do that. What a small GC actually runs day to day is simpler: where is my own crew going tomorrow, and what happens when the plan breaks at 4pm. That's what the board and the chat handle.

Subs stay on the phone, the way plenty of small builders already work. Book their days on the calendar as events on the project so you see them next to your crew, and call them with one tap when something moves.

Straight answers on GC crew scheduling

Redline does

  • Move your crew between projects in one message
  • Put project scope and site notes on their phones
  • Show inspections and sub days on the same calendar
  • Remind you to call the supplier or dumpster company
  • File crew receipts against the right project

Redline doesn't

  • Build Gantt schedules or sequence subs
  • Give subs their own logins without a seat each
  • Track crew hours, payroll or certified payroll
  • Track trucks by GPS
  • Keep daily logs or site diaries as reports

Questions contractors ask

How big a crew does Team+ cover?

Team+ includes 10 seats for $299 a month, owner included, with extra seats at $29 each up to 100. Team covers 3 seats for $129.

Does my site super need a seat too?

Yes. Everyone in the workspace holds a seat, the owner included. Roles are Admin, Office, Member and Tech, and only the owner can change the plan.

Can I keep a daily log?

Notes and photos on the project's file and its crew chat thread keep a running record, but there's no formal daily log or report.
