Doing it in Redline

Redline takes card payments only, through the pay link on your invoices (Solo, $29 a month), so cash and checks happen outside it. It doesn't mark an invoice paid when you take cash. What you can do is log it on the customer's file: "log a payment from Tony Ferraro, $1,200 cash toward the painting". That puts it on his activity with the date, so the next time someone asks "did Ferraro pay?", the answer is in his file.

If he'd rather pay the balance by card, invoice it by chat for the remaining amount and send him the link from your Gmail. If it sits unpaid, Redline flags it at day 3, 7 and 14 and pushes you a note on the iPhone app, so you know who to call. For a regular itemized receipt, use the receipt template.
