Redline
Quick-Sort

Drop it in now. File it later.

On a job, you don't have time to find the right customer, open the right tab and type it properly. Quick-Sort is the shortcut: capture the photo, the note, the price or the date in a couple of taps and get back to work. When you sit down, Redline suggests where each item belongs and one tap files it.

How it works

  1. Capture

Tap Capture on a computer, or open the Quick-Sort tab on your phone. Drop in a photo, a note, a date, a price or a rough draft.

  2. Keep working

No customer to pick, no form to fill. It waits in Quick-Sort until you're ready.

  3. Sort when you sit down

Redline looks at each item and suggests where it belongs. If it's right, one tap files it.

  4. Find it later

Notes and photos you file to a customer show up in their Notes tab, next to their job photos. See contacts.

The kind of thing worth dropping in

Whatever you'd otherwise write on your hand or leave in your camera roll.

The photo you'll need later

The furnace data plate, the panel schedule, the rot behind the fascia, the before shot of the driveway.

The detail nobody wrote down

"Gate code 4471, dog is friendly, park on the street."

A price you were just quoted

"Supply house: 50 gal gas water heater $1,180, in stock Tuesday."

A date the customer mentioned

"Kitchen has to be done before the 22nd, family's coming."

Half a message

A rough draft you want to clean up and send once you're out of the crawlspace.

Why not just put it in the chat?

You can, and the chat will act on it. Quick-Sort is for the stuff that isn't a request yet: a photo you might need, a number you don't want to lose, a thought you'll deal with at 6pm. It keeps the chat for things you want done and gives the loose ends a place to wait.

It's also a step on Redline's Getting started checklist, because once it's a habit, the camera roll stops being your filing system.

Straight answers before you switch

Quick-Sort does

  • Capture photos, notes, dates, prices and drafts in seconds
  • Suggest where each item belongs
  • File it with one tap
  • Work from a Capture button on desktop and its own tab on phones

Quick-Sort doesn't

  • Turn receipts into expenses (log those in Money on Solo and up)
  • Save captures with no signal (only logged activity, like a call, waits offline)
  • File anything without your tap

Questions contractors ask

Is Quick-Sort free?

Yes. It's on every plan, Free included. See pricing.

Where do sorted items go?

Wherever you file them. Redline suggests a home for each one, and photos and notes filed to a customer appear in that customer's Notes tab.

Can I use it for receipts?

Quick-Sort doesn't have a receipt type. On Solo and up, log receipts in Money under Expenses so they count against the job. See expenses and reports.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On a phone, Quick-Sort has its own tab, in the iPhone app or the browser.
