Redline vs LMN: quick quotes or full budgets.

LMN is landscape business software built around budgeting: overhead recovery, price lists, material and labor calculators, and crew timesheets. Redline is chat-first field service software that starts with a Free plan for $0, remembers your rates and drafts quotes when you describe the job. If you price every job against a full overhead budget, LMN is built for that and Redline isn't.

The short version

Redline suits the landscaper who prices from experience: you know your man-hour rate and what mulch costs you, and you want the quote out the same day. Tell Redline your rates once and its memory keeps them. Then describe the beds and it drafts the quote. Free covers that plus contacts, the pipeline and the calendar. Solo at $29 a month adds invoices; Team at $129 a month adds the crew board for 3 seats.

LMN, from Granum, is landscape business software for maintenance, design-build and snow companies with crews. It does budgets with overhead recovery, price lists, material and labor calculators and automated proposals; scheduling with calendars and a whiteboard; an iOS and Android crew app for schedules, timesheets and tasks; and invoicing and payments. Its Starter plan is aimed at companies under 10 employees.

LMN's pricing page lists Starter from $297 a month with 1 office or crew lead license and 5 crew member licenses, Professional from $648 a month with 3 office or crew lead licenses and 15 crew member licenses for companies of 10 or more, and Enterprise by quote.

Front beds, priced from remembered rates

Our labor rate is $65 a man-hour and mulch is $68 a yard.
Redline

Got it: $65 a man-hour, $68 a yard for mulch. I'll use those on your quotes.

Remembered.

Quote the Kessler front beds: 12 yards of mulch, 9 boxwoods at $45, 3 hydrangeas at $60, about 14 man-hours.
Redline

Drafted for Ruth Kessler:

Mulch, 12 yards, $816

Boxwoods, 9 at $45, $405

Hydrangeas, 3 at $60, $180

Labor, 14 man-hours, $910

$2,311. Save it?

Memory keeps your rates so you don't repeat them. It isn't a price book or an overhead-recovery budget.

Questions contractors ask

Does Redline do overhead recovery?

No. Redline doesn't build budgets or spread overhead across jobs. On Solo it shows profit per job after the materials you file against it, and labor isn't tracked. To work out a rate that covers overhead, try the hourly rate calculator.

Does Redline have crew timesheets?

No. There's no clock-in or timesheets. On Team, techs tap Idle, En route or On job, and the board shows it.

How do the prices compare for a small crew?

LMN's pricing page lists Starter from $297 a month with 1 office license and 5 crew licenses. Redline Team is $129 a month for 3 seats, and Team+ is $299 a month for 10 seats. LMN includes budgeting and timesheets that Redline doesn't have, so it isn't a like-for-like comparison.
