Housecall Pro alternatives for the second person on the truck.

Housecall Pro is a full home-service system aimed at HVAC, plumbing, electrical and cleaning businesses, and it covers a lot. The moment people start shopping is usually the first hire, because that's where its plan structure takes a step. Here are the alternatives that fit the same shops.

Who uses Housecall Pro, and where the plans step up

Housecall Pro is built for solo pros and growing home-service teams: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping and appliance repair. It bundles scheduling, dispatch and invoicing with a flat-rate price book, 24/7 online booking, vehicle GPS with arrival info in customer texts, a QuickBooks sync, postcard marketing and a set of AI assistants, including one that answers calls and books jobs.

The plan math is where people stop and think. Housecall Pro's pricing page lists Basic at $59 a month billed annually ($79 billed monthly), and Basic is one user. The next plan, Essentials, is listed at $149 a month billed annually and includes 5 users. So the day you hand a second tech a login, you're on Essentials, whether you need 5 users or 2. MAX is listed at $299 billed annually with 8 users.

If you'll use the call-answering AI, the price book and the GPS, that bundle can be worth it. If what you really need is a calendar, quotes, invoices and a board for two or three people, it's worth pricing the options below. For the two-way breakdown, see Redline vs Housecall Pro.

Questions contractors ask

What's the cheapest way to add a second tech?

It depends on the tool. On Housecall Pro, the plan after the 1-user Basic is Essentials, listed at $149 a month billed annually with 5 users. On Redline, Team is $129 a month with 3 seats, month to month, and every person (you included) uses one seat. On Tradify, it's one more per-user charge.

Does Redline answer the phone like Housecall Pro's AI?

No. Redline doesn't answer, place or record calls. Calling a customer is one tap through your phone's dialer, and you log the call in the chat afterwards ("log a call with Chen, wants a water heater quote").

Can I see where my techs are?

Not on a map. Redline has no GPS by design. On Team and up, techs tap Idle, En route or On job in their app and the dispatch board shows it live. See crew dispatch.

Can I bring my Housecall Pro customers over?

There's no import in Redline today, CSV or otherwise. Customers are added by chat or as they call, so expect some setup time if your list is long.
