Solar invoice template, priced per watt.

Solar gets paid in milestones, not all at once. This invoice prices the system per watt, lists the adders, credits the deposit taken at signing and spells out what's due at install and at PTO.

Many states exempt residential solar equipment from sales tax. Add tax if yours doesn't.
Workmanship warranty: put your terms here. Module and inverter warranties are registered with the manufacturers.
If a financing company pays a milestone directly, it's shown as a payment on the next invoice.

What this template covers

  • The system priced per watt, so a change in panel count is just a new quantity
  • Adders (panel upgrade, steep roof, extra conduit per foot) on their own lines, the way they show up in the contract
  • Permitting and interconnection as one line the homeowner can see
  • The signing deposit credited after tax, and milestone terms for install and PTO
  • No sales tax by default, with a note to add it if your state taxes solar

Solar jobs run for months between the signature and PTO, and the money comes in pieces. Work the milestone out here (80% of the $23,620 balance is $18,896), then say "invoice Raman $18,896 for the install milestone" in Redline. It drafts it from her job as one amount with a one-line description. She pays by card on a pay link, and if it sits unpaid Redline flags it at day 3, 7 and 14 and tells you who to call.

Invoicing is on the Solo plan, $29 a month with a 7-day free trial. Card is the only way to pay on the link today, so milestones a lender pays directly are handled outside it. See the solar CRM page or invoicing.
