Redline vs HoneyBook: client projects or service calls.
HoneyBook comes up when you search for a CRM for a small service business. It's built around client projects, with proposals, contracts, a client portal and self-booking, and most of its own audience is photographers, planners, designers and consultants. Redline is built around field work: leads, site visits, quotes, crews. Redline's Free plan covers the CRM side for $0.
The short version
Redline treats each customer as a file with jobs that move from Lead to Quoted, Accepted, In Progress and Paid. You run it by message: log the call, draft the new quote, book the visit. That's all on Free. Solo at $29 a month adds invoices and card pay links. Team at $129 a month adds a dispatch board and a tech app for 3 seats, which is where Redline and HoneyBook part ways most.
HoneyBook is a client-management CRM for independent service businesses. Its main audience is photographers, event planners, consultants, designers and venues, and it publishes industry pages for others, landscapers included. It puts the proposal, contract and invoice in one client flow, gives clients a portal on every plan, and offers a scheduler where clients book time and pay in one step (Essentials and up), workflow automations, and HoneyBook AI for chat and drafted email replies. Its pages don't describe crew dispatch.
HoneyBook's pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month billed annually or $36 billed monthly, Essentials at $49 a month billed annually or $59 monthly, and Premium at $109 a month billed annually or $129 monthly. The trial is 30 days with no card. Payment processing fees are separate.

Who should pick which
Pick HoneyBook if

- Clients should book and pay for a consult on their own
- You want clients to log in to a portal to see their project
- You want automations that follow up for you without you approving each one
- Your bookkeeper wants QuickBooks connected (Essentials and up)
Pick Redline if
- Your work happens on job sites, with a truck and maybe a crew

- You want site visits grouped by town so you're not crossing the county twice
- You need a dispatch board for 2 to 10 people (Team and Team+)
- Your techs need their day and checklists, without seeing prices
Questions contractors ask
Is HoneyBook a good fit for contractors?
It can be for project-style work with a proposal and contract up front, like design-build. Most of HoneyBook's own material is aimed at creative and professional services, and its pages don't describe crew dispatch. If your week is service calls and crews, look at field service software.
Can my customers book or sign in Redline?
No. Redline has no online booking, client portal or e-signature today. Customers can send a quote request from your free Pro Page, which lands in Contacts as a lead.
Does Redline automate follow-ups?
Not on its own. Redline shows quotes gone quiet and leads not touched on Home, and drafts the follow-up email when you ask. You approve it and it goes from your Gmail. Reminders to yourself land in the morning brief on the iPhone app.
How do prices compare for one person?
HoneyBook's pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month billed annually or $36 monthly. Redline Free is $0, and Solo, which adds invoicing, is $29 a month or $23 billed yearly. See HoneyBook alternatives for more options.
